My 3 Days Experience Attending Simon Coulson’s Diploma in Internet Marketing – Twice
I have attended Simon Coulson’s 3-Day Diploma in Internet Marketing course twice—first in 2015 and then again in 2018. Both experiences were valuable in different ways, and I want to share my honest thoughts on how the course impacted my journey in digital marketing.
First Time Attending – 2015
When I first took the course in 2015, I had very little experience in internet marketing, affiliate marketing, website building, or digital marketing. I was just starting out, and my knowledge was mostly limited to what I had picked up online. However, attending the course made a some difference—it gave me a solid foundation and helped me understand key digital marketing concepts.
After completing the course, I felt more confident in my abilities and decided to start my own business, which led to the creation of LB Internet Consultancy. At that point, I was still learning and making mistakes, but the course provided a clear roadmap that I could follow to build my online presence.
Second Time Attending – 2018
By 2018, I had gained more experience in digital marketing and running my own business. However, I felt that I needed to refresh my skills and gain new insights. Since digital marketing is an ever-evolving field, I decided to attend the course again.
My main goal the second time was to brush up on my knowledge and apply it more effectively to my business. I wanted to refine my skills, particularly in areas like:

Challenges I Faced Attending the Course
One of the biggest struggles for me was getting to the venue on time. The course was held in a hotel near Heathrow, while I lived in Hackney, East London. Due to financial constraints, I couldn’t afford to stay at the hotel or rent a place nearby, so I had to travel back and forth every day.
Here’s what my daily journey looked like:
- 3-hour commute each morning (taking multiple buses and a train)
- Returning home around midnight each night
- Waking up at 5 AM to do it all over again the next day
This routine was exhausting and physically draining. By the second or third day, I found myself struggling to stay awake during the sessions because I was so tired. However, I was determined to complete the course, and despite the challenges, I was proud that I pushed through.
Overcoming Financial Constraints
Another difficulty was affording food and expenses during the training. The hotel and surrounding areas were expensive, so instead of buying food there, I brought my own meals to save money. While this wasn’t ideal, it allowed me to focus on the training without worrying about extra costs.

Would I attend the course again? Probably not, since I now focus more on self-learning and practical application. However, for someone new to digital marketing, the course can provide a solid foundation—as long as you’re prepared to absorb a lot of information in just three days.
Looking back, despite the struggles, I don’t regret attending the course. It gave me the push I needed to start my business, and for that, I’m grateful.
Speakers/Trainers
It’s true that most of the trainers in the course were good presenters, and some of them really knew their topics well. The pace was quite manageable if you already had some prior knowledge of digital marketing, but for complete beginners, it felt like they were moving too fast.
One major challenge I noticed was information overload—they packed a huge amount of content into just three days. It was a lot to take in, and for someone with no background in digital marketing, it could be overwhelming. That’s why I would advise anyone considering the course to do some research first. Having at least basic knowledge of concepts like SEO, social media marketing, and affiliate marketing would make it easier to follow along.
One of the sessions I enjoyed the most was the WordPress training. Since I already had some knowledge of WordPress, I found this part of the course much easier to follow. It reinforced what I already knew and helped me discover a few new tricks to improve my website-building skills.
Overall, while the course was valuable, it’s not ideal for complete beginners unless they prepare in advance. Having some foundational knowledge will help you get the most out of it.

Conclusion
To be honest, I would advise anyone interested in the course to go for it, but it’s crucial to do thorough research beforehand. You’ll likely experience something called information overload—there’s just so much to take in over the course of three days.
One thing to be cautious about is the upselling. During the course, they’ll offer additional products and services to purchase, and their mentorship program can be quite expensive compared to other training I’ve attended with similar settings. They also offer a booklet to help with revision after the course, along with an online membership platform, which I believe is a good resource to refer back to as you apply your learnings.
However, it’s important to keep in mind that attending the training won’t instantly make you rich or guarantee success right away. The course equips you with the knowledge and skills, but applying it successfully depends on your personal circumstances. Learning styles vary, and financial challenges can be an obstacle for some, so individual progress will vary.
Since completing the training, I haven’t achieved major success just yet, but I’ve gained valuable knowledge, which I have started applying in different online projects. The course also introduces you to the option of affiliate marketing, and while it’s a great starting point for those with a limited budget, it’s important to recognize that this method may not work for everyone.
