Project Overview
The Paediatric Association of Sierra Leone (PASL) is a professional healthcare organisation dedicated to improving child health and paediatric care across Sierra Leone. The organisation works closely with healthcare professionals, government bodies, international partners and stakeholders to support education, advocacy, research and the development of paediatric services throughout the country.
PASL required a professional website that would serve as a central hub for communicating its mission, sharing resources, promoting initiatives and strengthening engagement with healthcare professionals, partners and the wider public.
The opportunity to work with PASL came through a professional referral. Following initial discussions and a period of stakeholder review, I was invited to present my proposed solution to the organisation’s leadership team as part of a competitive selection process.
The project became one of the most significant website projects I had undertaken and provided valuable experience in working with a larger organisation involving multiple stakeholders, international partnerships and long-term strategic objectives.
The Challenge
Unlike many small business website projects where communication takes place with a single business owner, this project involved collaboration with multiple stakeholders across different organisations and locations.
The organisation required a website that would:
- Present a professional and credible online presence.
- Clearly communicate PASL’s mission, vision and objectives.
- Provide access to resources, programmes and organisational information.
- Reflect the professionalism of both PASL and its international partners.
- Support future growth and content expansion.
- Be accessible across desktop, tablet and mobile devices.
- Allow team members to manage website content independently following launch.
Strategic Approach
Before any development work began, I focused on understanding the organisation’s goals, audience and communication requirements.
As part of the selection process, I prepared and delivered a presentation to PASL’s leadership team outlining my proposed website strategy, development approach and implementation process.
Although I was competing against several other providers, I was ultimately selected to deliver the project. During later discussions, PASL explained that my professionalism, structured approach and understanding of the project requirements played a significant role in their decision.
Once the project was approved, I worked closely with key stakeholders to plan the website structure, organise content and establish a clear framework for the platform.
A strategic approach was taken to ensure the website would:
- Support communication with healthcare professionals and stakeholders.
- Provide a central location for organisational resources and updates.
- Showcase PASL’s work, partnerships and initiatives.
- Improve navigation and user experience.
- Create a platform capable of supporting future organisational growth.
Throughout the project, I collaborated with stakeholders to review content, implement feedback and ensure the website aligned with the organisation’s objectives. The project also reinforced the importance of structured communication, content management and stakeholder collaboration when working with larger organisations.

Results & Outcome
The completed website provided PASL with a professional digital presence that supports communication, stakeholder engagement and organisational growth.
The platform now serves as a central hub for sharing information, programmes, resources and organisational updates while helping strengthen the association’s visibility within the healthcare sector.
The project also resulted in a long-term working relationship that extended beyond the initial website launch. Additional training sessions, content updates and ongoing support have continued to provide value to the organisation.
Beyond the website itself, this project represented an important milestone in my professional development. It strengthened my confidence in working with larger organisations, managing multiple stakeholders and delivering strategic website solutions for professional, healthcare and non-profit organisations.
The experience gained through this project helped shape many of the business processes, client management systems and strategic approaches that I continue to use today through SK Design Media.
